What is our policy on day trips, school outings, health and safety arrangements?

Our policy is that all aspects of school life are inclusive to the needs of all pupils. Risk assessments are carried out as a matter of routine for any trip and an additional risk assessment takes into account any pupils in the class with specific needs or medical conditions.

For pupils with disabilities, medical needs or those with an Education, Health and Care Plan, we usually increase the ratio of adults to children to ensure that each child has adequate provision.

We also make a pre-visit to the destination to inform our risk assessment and also to meet with staff to make necessary arrangements around adaptations which may need to be made. If this is not possible, then we will make arrangements through a conversation on the phone.
